An eighteenth century hand-coloured copperplate engraving of Lathraea squamaria or Greater Toothwort. This is plate number 50 from the book 'English Botany' by James Sowerby, signed by Sowerby and dated 1791. In very good condition, mounted in acid free materials ready to display or add to a collection. Actual plate area is approx. 17.5 by 9.5 cm, in a 10 x 8 " mount.
